Movie Sets are closed and we wonder if they’ll get to release any new movies or TV shows this year. More and more people are baking and worrying about their hair, so there’s been a run on yeast and hair color. When all this is over, hair stylists will have so much work to do to fix the mess everyone made trying to do it themselves.

I put the oven on self-clean and wondered how people dealing with addiction are doing being all alone. What about disruptions for people with disabilities? Are they okay? Some people may not understand any of this and only know that their routines have changed. I cannot imagine the stress and anxiety it must create for them.

Bad Stress is awful, but even good stress is stress.

People write funny songs about quarantine and try to hit on the commonalities of the general population. Trying to connect. Trying to make everyone laugh. And I appreciate them. We’re all permanently connected to our phones, obsessively and alternately checking the death count, new information about restrictions, and funny memes on social media.

Aidan announces it is time for Little Kisses. He runs over and kisses me twice on the cheek and I think he’s sweet and then he schlurps, a giant lick from my chin to my glasses and starts cracking up. I give a giant EWWW, OMG did you just Lick My Face? And that makes him laugh even harder and he runs back to his office lair.

After he’s done with work we put on warm clothes and ride our e-bikes to the store. We fumble with the locks for way too long and eventually make it inside. We buy sugar-free chocolate and regular chocolate and jelly beans and chicken salad and he gets one beer. We cram it all into the basket on the front of his bike and everyone smiles at us from their cars and a cop grins and waves at us on our way home.

Everyone is trying to make something new from this. Switching it up. Trying something they believe to be unique but it turns out everyone is doing it. And then connecting on that level. Even if we can’t visit or do dinner or hang out around that fire pit. Not that we were all doing it before the pandemic, but we have a deep need to do it now.

Everyone is tired of the food they stocked up on last week that was supposed to last them a month. Everyone is just eating constantly because they have so much food. And they’re trying to eat the last of the stupid carrots they bought before they go limp. No one wants to eat a limp carrot. And no one wants to eat any more of the soup they made and froze. So we all sneak to the store. And buy chocolate and jelly beans and chicken salad.

I made some bagels. I’ll make more bread soon.

As Long as The Preppers Didn’t Score All The Yeast First.
