The Donut of Appreciation and the DMV’s Armed Guards

So then it was back to the DMV at 6am again. And Christina showed up like the champ she is, and held my place in line while I hung out with the truck and the new trailer and kept my fingers and toes tightly crossed.

And I gave her a Donut. Of Appreciation.

And I just poked around on Facebook while she had to deal with the armed guards and the crazy white guy on his phone yelling that he’s An American and Knows Why There Are 13 Stripes on the Flag!

The line almost folded back on itself and the guy behind her said he got there at 6:30 the day before and they wouldn’t let him in because he was too late.

It’s like it’s 1969 and we’re trying to get tickets to The Doors, she texted me.

But pretty soon the DMV’s Armed Guards told everyone they were only letting in 50 people for the day and they were doing a paperwork check.

Come with the paperwork, she texted me.

So I did, and the guy took a look at it.

The DMV guy glared at me. This is the wrong paperwork. Who told you it was the right paperwork?

The seller said the California DMV told him this was the right paperwork.

I Just Told You This Is The Wrong Paperwork. He shook it around at me.

Well, you asked and I was just answering your question, I said, knowing the game was already over.

He told me to go to Truckee, California to their DMV and get it sorted out, then come back.

Thanks for helping me out, I told Christina. Even though it didn’t work out, I really appreciate it. I owe you. Wanna go get breakfast?

Nah. She said.

Wanna go to Truckee? I said.

Hahahaha. Nah. She said.

And I drove to Truckee, and a few short hours and $126.00 later, I somehow became the legally registered owner of this horse trailer in the state of California. And the tags are good until 2022. And they’ll get me the title sometime in a month or whenever they feel like it and then I can go back to the Nevada DMV again and face my nemesis – the DMV Vin Inspection Lady.
