Day 36PCT Mile Marker 1416.50 – 1419.00
Miles Hiked 2.5
We slept in and packed up.
Natalie led a super long yoga session that was really helpful for my poor aching body. She said it was so fun, she forgot just how dirty and hot it was in camp.
All the friends left to go find clear alpine lakes to swim and kayak in before they headed home.
I sure appreciated that so many friends came to spend this weekend with me. What a fantastic group.
Aidan helped me sort resupply packages, and said he’d come see me next weekend too. My hero!
Jen and Natalie left us fifteen gallons of water they’d brought to resupply Cache 22.
I drew all over the bottles.
‘Because You Are Brave!’ Said one.
‘Don’t Just Survive. Thrive!’ Said another.
And my favorite, ‘Log-Log-Log Beautiful Nubbins!!!’ Which of course, will confuse people if they are not reading my blog.
Each decorated with a happy little saying, and signed ‘Love, Icebox and Team BB.’
We watched a hawk chase daddy bald eagle around, screaming at him.
Then we cached all the water at Cache 22 and headed back for another Icebox Dropoff mission at Burney Falls.
This goodbye was a happy one, filled with hope and smiles and good wishes. I kissed my sweet husband and he waved out the window, and just like that I was alone again.
But only for a minute.
I took a shower and then found my friend Michelle who was camping at Burney Falls with her family.
I sat around telling stories for a little while, but when 7pm rolled around, it was time to go.
Just a few miles into the forest, I found a nice flat spot on the side of a dirt road and set up my little cozy home.
