Day 43
PCT Mile Marker 1498.7 – 1501.93
Miles Hiked 3.23
It was lovely sleeping in on plush sleeping bags and sleeping mats. The boys snuggled onto the bed with us.
Happy Family Time.
We lounged around in the tent telling stories for a long time, then Aidan made me gluten-free pancakes and eggs.
He brought me three different pairs of shoes from the house. I picked a pair. I guess I’ll see what kind of new agony these will bring. Tolerable, I hope.
Played with the dogs.
Reconfigured gear again.
Decided to bring the ice axe again based on the trail stories I’ve heard recently about the snow on Mt. Etna. Decided against crampons. Re-acquired my heavier fleece hoodie.
It was cold all day.
Aidan dropped me off at the trail in the late afternoon.
I won’t see him for a long time this time. For Real.
I cried a lot. After a while I was still crying and walking, so I put on an audiobook. It was about a creepy killer guy at the Chicago World’s Fair.
It was getting dark and I was super creeped out, but I wasn’t crying anymore.
So I hid in my tent until the black of night wiped me into sleep-land.
