Day 19
Miles 0
Today was our anniversary.
Four Years of Extreme Happiness.
Really, we all hit the lottery just by being alive, right? All those people who had to meet at just the right time throughout history. All those people who created little kiddos who survived this tough old world long enough to procreate. All those people who lived and handed down legacies, and traveled, resulted in you being born. And me. And it’s crazy and overwhelming if you look at it too hard.
So to have already basically won the life lottery, and then meet my soulmate too?
I don’t even know how to do the math to calculate those odds, so I am content to wrap myself up in love and just grin. I am like a giant burrito of love. The Love Burrito.
The gift at four years of marriage is, traditionally, fruit and flowers. What a perfect year for fruit and flowers. Trail Love. We love the traditional gift giving by year. This year, I was supposed to be on trail and we didn’t know if we’d even get to see each other. So all this cursed snow was kind of a little gift from the trail. Allowing me to see my sweetheart.
The Trail doing a little Trail Angel-ing of its own. Trail Magic.
I melted the chocolate in the fondue pot and cut up all the little fruit pieces.
Another storm rolling in.
But I am snug as a bug in a rug with my love by my side.
The Trail can just go ahead and wait until Saturday Morning.
That’s just fine.
