We spent the morning trying to charge things. Stone’s battery bank surprisingly seems to be holding a charge despite going through the washing machine yesterday.
We talked all morning about our visit last night with Ruthless, an author for The Trek. She was full of imagination and wonder, yet grounded and thoughtful. We both wanted to be just like her when we grow up.
We caught a ride back to trail from Debbie Sue, a wonderful trail angel, and wondered out loud if we should’ve just stayed in town for a zero mile day. We are completely burned out… but then…
Long Grasses waved at us as we went by. Cheering crowds of golden seed pods. Minefields of rocks requiring constant attention to where one places one’s feet, lest a fall or breakage of bones occurs.
When the tents did go up, I watched the sunset through the wall of my tent. Grasses cast their shadows there. I took photos to share, but I etched the feeling into my heart…
